Generation 1:
The Articulated Bear
Known as the "B-ear," this successfully crowdfunded project was our first deep dive into complex plush mechanics. Standing at 22cm, Generation 1 featured fully poseable internal skeletons and embedded magnetic feet. This structural design allowed the bears to stand securely on metal surfaces and strike dynamic, gravity-defying poses. We also introduced unique details like customized embroidered soles and a completely transparent nose for the black variant.
This project marked the beginning of our micro-wardrobe exploration, with custom-tailored outfits designed specifically to fit its articulated frame. While this hard-structured experiment was a major milestone for our lab, it ultimately paved the way for our current Doughlings designs—where we transitioned away from rigid skeletons to embrace maximum, huggable softness.
